The Consultant for Senate Standing Committee on States and Local Government Administration, Kayode Adegbayo has described the quality of work done so far at the ongoing construction of the Association of Local Government Of Nigeria, ALGON House, Benue State Chapter as fantastic.
Fielding questions from journalists after being led by the special adviser to Benue State Governor on Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dennis Akura,
to inspect the ongoing work at the state ALGON House in Makurdi, while in the state for an official visit, the consultant equally appreciated the uncommon and proactive leadership disposition of the Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia for having the plight of the Benue masses at heart.
He disclosed during the interaction that his presence in the state is to go round the 23 local government areas with the aim to assess the projects which have being coordinated by the local government councils, adding that at end of his working visit those that have performed well would be given awards at their respective councils .
Adegbayo, further intimated management of the Bureau that the Senate Committee on States and local government administration under the leadership of Senator Binus Yero is committed to ensuring that the right thing is done at the third tier of government in all States of the federation.
He commended the Adviser on local government and chieftaincy Affairs in Benue State, Dennis Akura, for bringing his wealth of experience as an ex-local government council chairman on his new job for the over all good and development of the state, describing his appointment as a round peg in a round hole and commended him for bringing a lot of reforms at the local government administration in the state.
He revealed that, Benue State under the leadership of Governor Alia has granted financial autonomy to local government councils as soon as he took the mantle of the state leaders a year ago, before the Supreme Court verdict, adding that the governor has equally done well in payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities as at when due and expressed optimism that the ALGON House would complement efforts of the present administration in revenue generation.
In his comments Benue State ALGON chairman and the Konshisha local government council chairman, Hon. Philip Achwua thanked the Consultant and his delegation to the State and promised to give them the desired cooperation to succeed on their assignment.
