Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has assured civil servants in the state of his readiness to implement the new national minimum wage as approved by President Bola Tinubu, recently.
He gave the assurance during the recent townhall meeting on the proposed national protest held at Kasarawa International Conference Hall
He assured people of the state that Sokoto State Government is making everything humanly possible to implement the new national minimum wage as approved by Mr President.
The governor noted that it is indeed obvious that the hardship being faced by ordinary Nigerians has worsened thereby making lives unbearable to many citizens.
According to him, prices of some essential items have now gone up far above the purchasing power of an average Nigerian, a situation that has further aggravated the problems being faced in the country today.
“While the citizens felt uncomfortable with the situation at hand, and have resolved to organize protests across the country as a means of voicing out their plights for authorities to know, they should also understand the complex nature of our societies as well as consider the national security.
Nigerians should as much as possible avoid any act that could jeopardize the peaceful coexistence of this country.
The proposed protest would only cause set back on the effort being made by the present administration to better the living conditions of the people of the state, as the burden of the destruction likely to occur on the states. Infrastructure will be solely on the Government.
“The Sokoto State government, the NLC, TUC, Students Union and 50 trade unions in the state are all against the proposed protest and would not participate in therefore any person or group of persons coming out to protest is doing that at his own risk”
