Environmental activist makes history as first Nigerian to receive Wallenberg Medal

Renowned environmental activist and executive director of the Health of Mother Earth Foundation, HOMEF, Nnimmo Bassey, is set to receive the prestigious 2024 Wallenberg Medal Award from the University of Michigan.

This makes Bassey also CAPPA’s foremost environmental activists the first Nigerian to receive this honor.

According to a statement by Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa, CAPPA’s, Media & Communication Officer, Robert Egbe, Bassey will also deliver the 29th Wallenberg Lecture, titled “We Are Relatives.”

The lecture will focus on his vision of a livable future for all beings, emphasizing love, humility, dignity, and respect.

This recognition is a testament to Bassey’s tireless efforts in environmental activism and his commitment to creating a sustainable future.

The Wallenberg Medal Award is a prestigious honour that recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to humanitarian causes.
